Traditionally the memories of parenthood that we choose to photograph always include the child. Important as these types of images are, I find the small scenes of childhood activity to be more poignant; reminders of the day-to-day, of life as it is lived. This short series is personal to my daughter from various points starting in her fourth year, but they will no doubt be familiar to many parents; the fact she is absent from the images makes them a portrait of childhood in general as much as of her.
